Effective patent prosecution is a fundamental strength of Giorgos' intellectual property practice that began in 1996 as a technical advisor/patent agent. Since then, he has prepared and prosecuted numerous patent applications in the areas of physics, computer software and hardware, encryption, microprocessors and logic design, 3D graphics, and digital communications, among others. Giorgos has assisted small to large organizations in developing, monetizing, and protecting patent portfolios and other IP. He is recognized for his extensive technology, physics, and mathematical knowledge as well as his excellent interpersonal skills. Giorgos can integrate and communicate effectively with technologists, attorneys, and business professionals. He excels in his ability to distill complicated concepts and ideas into basic patentable inventions.
Giorgos received his Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering and Bachelor of Science degree in Physics, both with honors, from Rice University under a Fulbright Scholarship. After graduating from Rice, Giorgos received a Ph.D. in Physics from the University of Texas at Austin. His research of the chaotic evolution and dynamical localization of periodically driven quantum rotors was the subject of articles in Nature and Physics Today. He received his Doctor of Jurisprudence degree from the University of Texas School of Law under the Judge Bob Shannon Scholarship. He is licensed to practice before the Texas State Courts and is admitted to practice before the United States Patent and Trademark Office.
Bob's practice focuses on counseling clients on intellectual property and data privacy-related matters with an emphasis on commercial and technology transactions. Bob has drafted and negotiated a wide variety of agreements ranging from simple NDAs to complex master license and service agreements involving software, hardware, telecommunications, semiconductor, and internet products and services. He has provided transactional support for diverse client business units including sales, marketing, engineering, procurement, and business development teams. This includes advising clients on issues such as open source licensing and compliance with data privacy regulations that impact relationships with customers, partners, and vendors. Bob is a patent attorney and has prepared and prosecuted patents in the electrical, computer software, telecommunications, and semiconductor arts and has advised clients on patentability and infringement issues. He also advises clients on copyright, trademark, trade secret, and other intellectual property matters.
Bob received a Bachelor of Arts in Physics from the University of Illinois at Chicago and a Master of Arts in Physics from the University of Texas at Austin. His graduate work focused on condensed matter physics and quantum chaos. Bob earned his Doctor of Jurisprudence with honors from the University of Texas School of Law. He is licensed to practice before the Texas State Courts and is admitted to practice before the United States Patent and Trademark Office. He is also a member of the International Association of Privacy Professionals and is CCIP/US certified.
